Valencia Sept 2004
|
FIRST THANK YOU It is always
exciting to visit a new country as we done by now 43 times before
Spain. But it makes it even more special when you receive a text
from the head of BMW Group Spain Mr. Juan Luis Fernandez to say they
are looking forward to meeting us and they have arranged
accommodation in their associated hotels "NH Group Hotels". So
instead of camping we had hotel accommodation in Madrid, Valencia,
Barcelona and Andorra. We would also like to thank Ms Rosa Ruiz and Ms Carman Mora Communications Department BMW Group Spain for organizing our press conferences at short notice in Madrid, Barcelona and Andorra. We also thank them for arranging the facilities at no cost to our selves. Thank you to Mr. Juan Luis Fernandez for providing Breakdown support for our travels in Spain but as you would expect this service was not required. |
|
| After five fantastic days in Portugal we then rode east to Madrid Spain, where we gave conference to the Motorcycle Press. The venue was the sparkling new BMW Group building situated in the center of Madrid. Our host for the day was Mr. Fernandez head of BMW Motorrad Spain and his assistant Ms.Rosa Caniego Ruiz | |
| Mr. Fernandez and his team gave us a tremendous welcome and took time out from their busy schedule to show us around their new complex | |
| Our bikes were ushered in to the building where the press took pictures of Monika and our GS bikes beneath a large picture of the new GS 1200 at Brookes Mountain range Alaska | |
| Unfortunately our schedule meant we would have to leave Madrid as we were visiting Valencia and Barcelona before heading north to Andorra. The press core where fantastic and posed here with our bikes. | |
| We said
good bye to our hosts at BMW Group Spain and as always Monika and I
was extremely grateful for the warm welcome, hospitality and
Kindness. It was with deep regret we did not get the opportunity to
discover Madrid but we simply did not have time.
We kicked our bikes into gear and with a wave goodbye, rode east 400 miles to the beautiful city of Valencia situated on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. |
|
| Magical, historical and beautiful, this is Valencia situated 200 miles south from Barcelona and 300 miles east from Madrid. A truly exciting city with its medieval Castle towers beautiful cathedrals and beautiful gardens where the cities river used to flow. | |
| One of the large medieval towers that charm Valencia. | |
| A typical scene from downtown Valencia. Narrow streets twist and turn between the tall four story buildings and often open like an estuary into the many squares. | |

|
| NH Center Hotels Spain have been hosting us for our Press Conferences in Madrid and Barcelona. Many thanks for the sterling service and warm welcome. | |
