Austin Texas famed for its tranquil atmosphere, horse drawn carriage rides and two million bats which fly from the Austin City bridge every night at sun set.

 
Picture depicts actual time to Bat take off from the bridge. So regular and concise is the bat departure time that signs are posted in the vicinity giving the actual time of take off predicted to the minute.

 

Bats in flight. Here you can see the streaked effect as two million bats take flight from under the bridge. Hundreds of tourists stand and watch in amazement as the mass bats darken the SKY.

Ron and Barbara Ayres - Ayres Adventures Plano Texas. We were invited to dinner with Ron and Barbara Ayres. Ron now operates motorcycle tours in South America and Africa and is also the author of numerous adventure motorcycle books. Ron is a avid Iron Butt Rider and after hearing first hand from the King of the Iron Butt Rides and there are many formats of the Iron Butt,  Monika and I decided we should have a go at the baby one, 1000 miles in one jouney.

Unofficial Iron Butt Ride - Garmin 5 confirmation of 1000 miles distance. 1000 miles in the saddle which was no Problems as we are fitted with the legendary Bill Mayer Saddles.

Monika with Dallas Harley rider . This kind gentleman paid for our dinner and hotel for two nights. Embarrassed at his kindness Monika burst into tears after he departed. So typical of the kindness and generosity we received whilst touring North America.
