Cincinnati Ohio - Tina and Rob (front right side)
Cincinnati, Ohio

We had just completed our second coast to coast of the USA from San
Francisco to Virginia Beach, Virginia, a total distance of about 4,000
miles taking just less than a week. The weather has been atrocious for the
past 2 days so we didn’t do much sight-seeing once we arrived at the
Atlantic coast.

The camp sites had all but shut down so we grabbed the cheapest hotel
we could find for 25 dollars and after a good night's sleep and thorough
wash of our clothing we decided not to waste any time and head
North-West towards Cincinnati.

Cincinnati would normally be a two-day ride but we had some of the best
riding in the USA to look forward to as Virginia is one of the most
beautiful states in America.  Add one of the most enjoyable motorbike
rides along the Blue Ridge Park Way and we had it all to look forward to.

Our trusty guide book told us that Cincinnati had little of real
tourist interest to offer as the city is located on the shores of the Ohio
river and geographically it divide’s the north from the south.  It is
said to be more industrial than anything else, but we were not going to
Cincinnati to sight-see but to visit our Sponsors and new Friends Tina
and Rob Hollander, owners of Motolight, the world's leading producers of
auxiliary motorbike lighting. We decided to forego the local sights and
opted, instead, for what turned out to be a marvellously entertaining
day in the company of Tina and Rob Hollander.

We arrived in Cincinnati mid afternoon after one night's free camping
on the shores of the Ohio River and promptly took our bikes to the local
BMW dealership for a service and a tyre change. Tina picked us up and
took us to her beautiful home situated in plush suburbs of the city. She
had arranged for a night out at her favourite restaurant.  After
unpacking and a couple of beers we departed for a fantastic night out which
included great company and a wonderful steak meal. We had one more day
relaxing at Tina and Rob’s home before returning to the BMW dealership
to pick up our bikes. To our amazement but not surprised such is the
makeup of these two nice people we discovered that Tina and rob had
generously paid for all the work including tyres on both of our bikes. We
didn’t ask them to do it but was extremely grateful for their kindness and
generosity.
