Europe at first glance does not posses the motorcycle adventure
flare of the Sahara or Gobi Deserts or boast the dramatic sites of
the "Grand Canyon or the great Wall of China" but Europe more than
makes up for this in the form of its culture, heritage and
hospitality. In Germany the highlight for us was an amazing two
weeks riding along the banks the meandering and free flowing River
Rhine from Duisburg to Mannheim Germany a distance of 500 Km. The
whole route offered its own pleasant and unique adventure plus some
incredible scenery including Châteaux's, Medieval Castles, Cable Car
rides up towering mountains, tours of Vine yards, and exploration of
rich green forests, river side cafes were we sat and enjoyed the
local wines, beers and traditional frankfurters. Our favorite
camping location was on the west bank of the River Rhine facing the
old city of Koblanz. This is where the River Rhine and River Mosel
meet at a location now called "German Corner". Koblanz is a popular
tourist attraction and
has a scenic park with a large statue and
a landmark attraction called the
"Kaiser Wilhelm memorial" representing the German unification. From
the summit of the memorial you can enjoy splendid views the old city
of Koblanz and the marvel at the numerous castles, châteaux's that
sit on the banks of the rivers Rhine and Mosel. The main reason
Koblanz is such a popular tourist attraction is Koblanz is one of
the embarkation point for the numerous river cruises and with cruise
durations ranging from one hour to two weeks it truly is an
experience of a life time.
